"Drama is life with all the dull parts left out" - Alfred Hitchcock
Drama films generally include problems or protagonists that are easy to relate to, and that can engage the audience on a personal level. They are based around realistic scenarios with a focus on serious topics and are split into sub-genres. For example: crime; alcoholism; war etc.
-
References to serious topics are made - i.e. crime/theft/violence/drugs
-
Sound - non diegetic: In opening sequence narrator mentions various 'everyday' habits which are easy for people to relate to; the fast and energetic music tells us that it's not a calm environment and that it's going to be eventful/dramatic

Questionnaire
Questionnaire
We asked our peers a few questions and their opinions didn't vary a very large amount.
When asked what kind of characters people would like to see, the general gist of responses were as long as they are interesting, and were fairly easy to relate to perhaps, there isn't a particular type of person they'd like to see. Everyone who was asked said they would likely watch a film with a female protagonist.
There was a variety of responses regarding storyline but quite a few people agreed that anything with an intriguing or new idea.
these opinions were taken into account throughout production and the storyline was adapted to fit.

There may be nudity in a sexual context but usually without strong detail; Sex - Sexual activity may be portrayed, but usually without strong detail. There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are unlikely to be acceptable unless justified by context.
