Film Certification

Film Certification

Film certificate - 15 - for age 15 and over

The full film includes some strong language/some reference to drugs/alcohol, some violence/threat, and some sexual content. The storyline is also based around some very serious topics (i.e. abuse/addiction) which could be quite distressing for younger audiences.

Synopsis/Shot List

Synopsis/Shot List

Attempt 1:

See snippets of her day (like any other person's day)
Revealed in background her parent's voices

She just carries on
House is pristine but she goes into parents' room to get something and it's polar opposite to rest of house (messy, cluttered, alcohol, cigarettes)

  • establishing shot of house/room

  • wakes up; alarm - bird's eye view

  • shot of phone/message or something - replies "yeah it's nothing"

  • *Bang* *she acknowledges* *looks towards room*

  • makes way downstairs

  • breakfast scene

  • hear parent(s) leave & goes upstairs to get something/clean up

  • fade out to white as she leaves (face on)

  • titles

Attempt 2: - Chosen storyline

more Psychological abuse rather than physical

  • Shot of the door, slow zoom

  • Shot of 'mother' tapping fingers

  • shot of clock, ticking

  • no music only ticking and tapping

  • silhouette of ash through glass door

  • Tries to close door as quietly as possible

  • Tapping stops as door shuts

  • sneaks upstairs, mum texts 'where have you been?'

  • Schedule printed out on bed with everything for week, mainly chores - weigh yourself?

  • pulls out journal from under bed

  • chart, highlights weight

  • text from mother 'get down here now'

Later on in the film the main character Ash has to overcome her fears and defeat both the daemons that are her parents, and the daemons inside her. She becomes an alcoholic but falls in love with another girl who helps her through her problems.
